If you are looking for a very portable highly effective propane heater then the Mr. Heater Big Buddy is for you. This heater was created with safety in mind and allows you to have a safe heater for indoors, camping, or anything you can think of. With this model you twice as much heat as the previous model did before. With the new design and intergrated hot air blowing system your Big Buddy Heater takes your heating to a new level. You can expect 220 hours at 18,000 BTU on one tank with your thermostat set to low.

The MH18B comes with safety features that shuts down the system before to much carbon monoxide fumes are released in confined spaces. There are also loads of features including:

A/C or Battery powered fan

Heat level control Knob for low, medium, and high heat

Wall mounting ability

Large control knobs for easy use with gloves

Built in Piezo

Automatic shut off safety feature

Overall this new portable propane heater is a highly recommended heater for the money. Below you will find several reviews that I found from people posting about the product on Amazon. Take a look and see if this is something you would be interested in buying.

By Christopher S. Mooney, January 21, 2009 From Amazon.com

Great heater when simple precautions followed:

I was concerned when I purchased this unit. There are a number of highly negative reviews on it. However, on further research, I have discovered that the circumstances leading to those reviews could have been avoided.

When one uses this heater with a 20 lb propane bottle & accessory hose, it is imperative that you always shut the tank off first & let the heater run until it burns off all the fuel in the lines.

*** IT IS IMPERATIVE TO FOLLOW THIS PROCEDURE ***

If one simply turns the heater knob to the off position, it will trap trap 100 PSI of propane in the accessory hose. When high pressure propane sits in the rubber hose, it will chemically react with the rubber and leetch a light oil. The oil will build up and quickly work its way into the heater, clogging both the regulator & control valve.

Another very important recommendation is to purchase the gas line filter. This will catch the oily residue and protect the combustion components of the heater should one forget to follow the precautions above.

Keeping these precautions in mind, one will be able to enjoy a very well-build and flexible-use portable heater.

By Moneyman, February 8, 2008 From Amazon.com

This is the second Big Buddy heater I have gotten. We have short but cold power outages in my area and this heater does a great job in maintaining the house temperature at a comfortable level until the power and the furnace come back on. It’s also convenient because it can easily be moved from room to room and I also use it in my garage when working on projects. I bought a second one for my daughter and got her the hose with the quick disconnect and regulator for safer operation indoors since they tell me that the pressure in the hose is only 1/2 psi pressure.

Very useful heater that packs a punch

Got this heater this year and really love it. It does a really great job of keeping me warm while working in my garage. I love the fact that it takes two 1 lb. throwaway cylinders. The two tanks actually last a lot longer than I had anticipated. One of the best things about it is the fact that it can be moved anywhere I am working. Often times, those heaters on propane bottles are hard to position to adequately feel the heat. But with the big buddy, I can position up high, down low…you name it. Great heater.

This is just a few reviews I found online at Amazon.com from people who actually purchased this heater. Make sure you do your research always to make sure its the right fit for you.

Electric heaters are probably the most used heater today. They range in all sizes from small portable ones to large central air style units. They fit almost any need and any size that you could require. Below are some key things to consider when buying a electric heater.

Electric heaters can be a cost effective device for heating your home or even something like a camper. With the cost of electricity today many people are looking for a means of saving a few penny’s and cutting down on the cost of utilities. For the United States the majority of homes are heated by some form of central air. Were overseas you find that more homes are heated by space heaters. While stationed in Japan I was having to use electric wall units to heat and cool the rooms in the house. While it was very expensive to heat the entire house all at the same time it did however save me money since I could just heat the room I was using at the time. So instead of always heating rooms you may hardly use at times your able to just heat one room saving you a lot of money.

So how do I save money using a electric heater? Well if you purchase a heater that meets the space requirments for your living you save money by only heating your living area vs the entire house. Electric heaters come in all sizes and have the ability to heat rooms of various sizes. And if you plan on moving to another room or bedroom all you need to do is have another one in the room your going to go in and give it about 20 mins to heat that room. It just gives you more control on the use of your electricity and uses far less to heat the rooms your are trying to heat.

Another factor with portable electric heaters is that they are very safe to use. Most have a safety feature to shut them off if they overheat or if they get shorted somehow. Most also have a heat resistant metal shield that make it cool to the touch even though hot air is blowing out of it. This makes it very safe to have around kids and pets.

Electric heaters are not just made for the indoors. You can find large heaters meant to heat large spaces or small ones that mount on a patio. Several commercial places like resturants have outdoor electric heaters on their patio. Electric patio heaters are very popular since they are safe and don’t require you to refill them with propane or oil. The only down side to large heaters is that they tend to cast a orange glow on everything.

If you have kids or pets and want to reduce costs on heating or just looking for something to heat a small area, then electric space heaters are the way to go. You can easily reduce the amount of electricity your using and cut back on your utility costs. Just make sure that you purchase the heater that has the right features to what your looking for.

There are several different types of space heaters that are on the market today. All fit the different needs to the consumer. Anything from large propane space heaters that will heat a entire living room to small ceramic space heaters that will only heat a bathroom or small bedroom. So you must make sure you know what you are buying so that you get the maximum use out of your heater. Electric space heaters are the most commonly sold heaters at the consumer level. People buy them for heating their bathrooms to garages. The newest and most popular are the ceramic heaters. The ceramic space heater works as a convection heater that passes electricity through the ceramic heating it up. Then the heat is transferred to aluminum coils that a fan blows through pushing the heat into the room. These type of heaters can be found fairly cheap at around 15 to 100 dollars. Depending on the size and need of the space heater. You will also find that these consume a lot less electricity keeping your utility costs down. It still is not the best type of heater for all situations.

The propane space heater is also a widely used heater. It to can be a very portable heater and also can be use to heat large spaces. Unlike the ceramic heaters, propane heaters are able to heat larger spaces. The down side is that they do have a flame and like anything else that has fire it can be a safety hazard. You will generally find propane space heaters heating living areas of a home to the outdoors with camping or outdoor recreation events. With the rising price in electricity this can ultimately save you a lot of money over the winter months. It is very cost effective to use a propane heater due to lower prices. When looking for a propane or gas heater you need to make sure that you have a safe area to place it in your house and that you make sure it’s the correct heat output for your space requirements. Another thing is that you need to think about purchasing a safer version if you have kids or pets in your home. You can easily get burned or start a fire if your not careful. Something else to consider is that you need a well ventilated area due to the fumes that come off the space heater as well.

There are several popular brands to choose from when looking for a good space heater. Holmes Space Heater is a very reliable heater that is very popular among consumers. Also the Honeywell Space Heater is a good choice for the energy efficient space heaters. Just remember to make sure that you are not over or under purchasing and that its safe for the environment its going to be in. No one wants to have a bad day due to there heater.
