Great heater when simple precautions followed:

I was concerned when I purchased this unit. There are a number of highly negative reviews on it. However, on further research, I have discovered that the circumstances leading to those reviews could have been avoided.

When one uses this heater with a 20 lb propane bottle & accessory hose, it is imperative that you always shut the tank off first & let the heater run until it burns off all the fuel in the lines.

*** IT IS IMPERATIVE TO FOLLOW THIS PROCEDURE ***

If one simply turns the heater knob to the off position, it will trap trap 100 PSI of propane in the accessory hose. When high pressure propane sits in the rubber hose, it will chemically react with the rubber and leetch a light oil. The oil will build up and quickly work its way into the heater, clogging both the regulator & control valve.

Another very important recommendation is to purchase the gas line filter. This will catch the oily residue and protect the combustion components of the heater should one forget to follow the precautions above.

Keeping these precautions in mind, one will be able to enjoy a very well-build and flexible-use portable heater.

This is the second Big Buddy heater I have gotten. We have short but cold power outages in my area and this heater does a great job in maintaining the house temperature at a comfortable level until the power and the furnace come back on. It’s also convenient because it can easily be moved from room to room and I also use it in my garage when working on projects. I bought a second one for my daughter and got her the hose with the quick disconnect and regulator for safer operation indoors since they tell me that the pressure in the hose is only 1/2 psi pressure.

Very useful heater that packs a punch

Got this heater this year and really love it. It does a really great job of keeping me warm while working in my garage. I love the fact that it takes two 1 lb. throwaway cylinders. The two tanks actually last a lot longer than I had anticipated. One of the best things about it is the fact that it can be moved anywhere I am working. Often times, those heaters on propane bottles are hard to position to adequately feel the heat. But with the big buddy, I can position up high, down low…you name it. Great heater.

This is just a few reviews I found online at Amazon.com from people who actually purchased this heater. Make sure you do your research always to make sure its the right fit for you.

Anything from large propane space heaters that will heat a entire living room to small ceramic space heaters that will only heat a bathroom or small bedroom. So you must make sure you know what you are buying so that you get the maximum use out of your heater. Electric space heaters are the most commonly sold heaters at the consumer level. People buy them for heating their bathrooms to garages. The newest and most popular are the ceramic heaters. The ceramic space heater works as a convection heater that passes electricity through the ceramic heating it up. Then the heat is transferred to aluminum coils that a fan blows through pushing the heat into the room. These type of heaters can be found fairly cheap at around 15 to 100 dollars. Depending on the size and need of the space heater. You will also find that these consume a lot less electricity keeping your utility costs down. It still is not the best type of heater for all situations.

The propane space heater is also a widely used heater. It to can be a very portable heater and also can be use to heat large spaces. Unlike the ceramic heaters, propane heaters are able to heat larger spaces. The down side is that they do have a flame and like anything else that has fire it can be a safety hazard. You will generally find propane space heaters heating living areas of a home to the outdoors with camping or outdoor recreation events. With the rising price in electricity this can ultimately save you a lot of money over the winter months. It is very cost effective to use a propane heater due to lower prices. When looking for a propane or gas heater you need to make sure that you have a safe area to place it in your house and that you make sure it’s the correct heat output for your space requirements. Another thing is that you need to think about purchasing a safer version if you have kids or pets in your home. You can easily get burned or start a fire if your not careful. In Need Of A Portable Heater? Here Is A Review Of What To Look For.

Almost every home today has a portable heater. With the cost of electricity going up and fuel prices rising you find more people heating single rooms instead of their full house. They are not just used indoors though because you can find many for camping and recreational use. Here we will go over various types of portable heaters and review the pro’s and con’s to each type.

Portable propane heaters are a highly used type of heater among the outdoor enthusiasts of today. They have man uses and come in many shape and sizes. They are great for setting up in your camp site or in an outdoor tent canopy. You will find them among the tailgaters at football games and concerts to your local. With portable gas heaters your are pretty much able to use them anywhere and they are the only type of heater that you will be able to do this with. With other types of heaters you will need some other source to power the unit.

The downside to portable heaters is just that they do use gas and you have to be able to store it properly. They do have an open flame as well so you will have to be careful in case of fire etc. And lastly you have to purchase propane to fuel it. Other than that the portable propane heater is a great one to use and is the more common found.

The portable electric heater is the next most common indoor portable heater found today. You will almost find at least one electric heater in each home in the United States. They come in all sizes from small box heaters that go in your bathroom to large baseboard heaters in a living area. You will also find these on back patios as well or even used by the outdoor world.

The downside of these types of heaters is that they require electricity. Because of this it does limit how portable they are because you cant take it somewhere without electricity. Though they don’t cost as much as central heating they do cost more than gas in most cases.

Another type of portable heater is the portable water heater. You may not think that they are used or easy to come by but they are used a lot with recreational camping. Portable water heaters come both with the propane and electric models and can be used for many different things. You can use them for remote showering to washing dishes all a nice flow of hot water. They act like a tank less water heater in most cases heating water as it runs through heating coils.

As you can see you can pretty much find any type of portable heater. If you need a portable baseboard heater to a portable room heater. There is pretty much something for everyone. Just make sure when you’re shopping for portable heaters that you do your homework and find out what the exact requirements are for electric and gas heaters. Also be aware of the safety features as well since you don’t want to get something that could be dangerous for your children etc.
